The new Mt Mawson Public Shelter was today officially opened and will provide a new level of amenity for southern Tasmania's only ski field, as well as upgraded facilities for bushwalkers heading to the iconic Tarn Shelf walk in Mt Field National Park.More

Hartz Peak Track Closed

PWS advises that the Hartz Peak Track in Hartz Mountains National Park has been closed until further notice due to increased fire risk.


Staff will be checking log books to ascertain how many people are out on the track and will arrange for their extraction if required.


Other tracks in the parks may be closed in the near future.


Visitors are asked to adjust their plans accordingly.
