New picnic facilities for Penny's Lagoon

Cradle Mountain fire contained


A fire near Cradle Mountain that was sparked by lightning two weeks ago is now contained.

Rainfall totalling 90 mm during the past week helped to contain the fire. Areas of smouldering peat remain and the area will continued to be monitored as required.

The fire burnt about 90 hectares in the Fury River Gorge approximately 10 kilometres west of Cradle Mountain.
