February 2008

Summer 2007-2008 – Campground Host Program.  Volunteers required for various locations around the state (Waterfall valley, Schouten Island, Cockle Creek, Melaleuca)  Generally 2 week periods in PWS provided accommodation.  Contact Craig Saunders on 03-62648463 or Craig.Saunders@parks.tas.gov.au
All this month - Volunteer with the Devil Facial Tumour Disease Project Team.  The team is surveying wild devil populations around the state.  Trips are usually 10-11 days in the field with all transport and accommodation provided. (hot showers, dormitory style sleeping, share cooking)  Contact the team’s volunteer coordinator Caroline Donnelly on phone 6233 2006 or Email: Caroline.Donnelly@dpiw.tas.gov.au
Tuesday 5 February -  Mt Wellington Bushcare - Environmental weed control in a range of locations on Mt Wellingtom close to Hobart.  Contact Peter Franklin on 6228 4889.
Sunday 17 February – Boneseed Busting at Gordons Hill.   Join Michael Baker and Peter McGlone and the crew tackling boneseed in this reserve close to Hobart’s eastern shore suburbs.  Contact Michael on 6244 4952 or Peter on 0406 380 545
Sunday 17 February – Friends of Peter Murrell Reserves.   Environmental weed control in this reserve close to Kingston, Blackmans Bay, Howden and Margate.  To get involved contact Annie Wapstra on 6267 2939
Tuesday 19 February - Friends of Coningham Nature Recreation Area.  Join John and Jean and friends in a variety of native vegetation management activities at this reserve 30 minutes south of Hobart.  Contact Jean Taylor 6267 4870.
