New Cradle Mountain day pass includes shuttle bus

A new Cradle Mountain Day Pass that includes use of the shuttle bus will be available for visitors to one of Tasmania's most visited national parks from 1st November 2009.

Parks and Wildlife Service general manager Peter Mooney said the new day pass will combine the existing 24 hour park pass and the shuttle bus fee in a pass that caters for the many visitors who visit Cradle Mountain for one day only.

"The new pass will sell for $16.50 per adult, $8.25 per child and $41.25 per family," Mr Mooney said.

"The new arrangement simplifies pass options for visitors and it is intended this will also result in increased use of the shuttle bus, with an accompanied decrease in the use of visitor vehicles on the road to Dove Lake.

"We are seeking to actively manage the number of vehicles travelling to Dove Lake, as it's a very narrow and winding road, with limited passing bays and parking capacity."

Intending visitors should note that holders of holiday and annual park passes will continue to receive complimentary shuttle bus use as has been the case to date.
