Governor Island is found less than two hundred metres off the coast of Bicheno. It is generally approached from Waubs Gulch which contains a small and protected boat harbour. Boats can be easily launched from the ramp at 'The Gulch'. Public toilets can be found a couple of minutes walk from the jetty.
The Governor Island Marine Reserve includes the island itself, Alligator Rock and all waters 400m eastward from the shoreline of Governor Island. The reserve covers an area of 60 ha.
A detailed plan showing the boundaries of the reserve is also available.
