Freycinet National Park Draft Management Plan 2015

Public input is being sought on alterations to the management plan for Freycinet National Park to provide for additional accommodation opportunities.

The change to the park’s plan of management alters the previous management plan which was produced in 2000 and subsequently altered in 2004 for track and water supply improvements.

A driver for this change was the proposal resulting from the recent Expression of Interest (EoI) process for new tourism experiences in parks and reserves.

A proposal by (RACT) Destinations Pty Ltd to extend the Freycinet Lodge’s current lease area within the Freycinet National Park was received. The proposal will go through a site planning, environmental assessment and local government approval which provide for additional public consultation.

An alteration to the park management plan is proposed, to allow the lease area to be extended so accommodation can be developed.

Public input is now sought on the Freycinet National Park Draft Management Plan 2015, with comment closing on 1 February 2016.

The draft plan can be viewed on the PWS website at http://www.parks.tas.gov.au/file.aspx?id=41253 and copies obtained from Service Tasmania shops in Hobart, Rosny, Launceston, Devonport, Sorell, St Helens and Triabunna.
