"The far south of Tasmania has a number of beautiful parks and reserves, including Hastings, Hartz Mountains and the Southwest national parks," Mrs Russell said.

"Hastings provides a great family outing, with activities for all ages and the thermal pool is a centerpiece of the reserve's attractions."

There will be a number of free activities on the day, including free entry to the thermal springs, free interpretation walks, hand painting, balloons and giveaways, all based at the thermal springs pool.

"We'll also showcase locally produced crafts which make ideal Christmas gifts," Mrs Russell said.

"Finally, we're encouraging the community to provide any comments or suggestions about Hastings on comment cards available."
