Bay of Fires Conservation Area

Southern Section

Please note that food and petrol must be obtained from St Helens. There is no water or firewood supplied at any of the southern campsites - you must bring your own. Please take all rubbish away with you. For camping with facilities please use commercial caravan parks in the townships.

Access

Access to the southern section of the Bay of Fires is via the Binalong Bay Road (C850 ) out of St Helen’s. Take the turnoff on the left into the C848 at the sign - “The Gardens – 13 Kms” This is a sealed road. The road terminates at private land at “The Gardens”.

Camping

The following beaches and campsites are found along the southern section:

Grants Lagoon

Large, open, grassed camping areas with access to the lagoon (takes caravans/ motorhomes).
Facilities: Pit toilet, boat ramp, no water or firewood, no rubbish collection. Maximum stay 4 weeks. There is also a day use area, accessed from Binalong Bay Road, which provides access to the beach.

Jeanneret Beach

Day use area, with grassed, secluded and well-sheltered campsites at adjoining Round Hill.
Facilities: Pit toilet, no water or firewood, no rubbish collection. Maximum stay 4 weeks (accessible to caravans/motorhomes).

Swimcart Beach

Ample grassed and sandy, sheltered campsites
Facilities: Pit toilets, no water or firewood, no rubbish collection. Maximum stay 4 weeks (takes small caravans/campers).

Cosy Corner

Has 2 separate entrances, one leads to well protected campsites amongst the trees, the other, on the far side of the lagoon, leads to a more open, grassy camping area (larger caravans/motorhomes can access this area).
Facilities: Pit Toilets, no water or firewood, no rubbish collection. Maximum stay 4 weeks.

Sloop Reef

Bayside campsites on either left or right of access road into the reserve (cars and tents only).
Facilities: No toilet (bring own), no water or firewood, no rubbish collection. Maximum stay 4 weeks.

Sloop Lagoon and Big Lagoon

Off the Old Gardens Road offer sheltered secluded sites.
Facilities: No toilet (bring own), no water or firewood, no rubbish collection. Maximum stay 4 weeks.

Taylors Beach

Day use only area – no facilities.

The Gardens Beach

Day use only area – no facilities.
